Let’s start with congratulating the five PokerGrant MTT-regulars who won the April PokerGrant and GipsyTeam promotion and took part in the GipsyTeam Live Main event for free.

Here are their nicknames:

  1. MoW3R
  2. Duran
  3. Karatel
  4. Staksader
  5. Traxa

They all got PokerGrant Top Horse packages that included free flight to Cyprus and accommodation as well as backing contract of participation in GipsyTeam Live Main Event with the buy-in $2000. Each of the winners played the tournament for free getting 45% of the potential profit.

Two of them came back from Cyprus not only with sun tan but also with a considerable amount of prize money. Dmitriy «Duran» got 4 prize in the main event, while Igor «Traxa» won two tournaments – Warm-Up and 6-max Deepstack. We called them to congratulate on their success right after they came back to Russia.

Duran, 4th place in GipsyTeam Live Main Event

– Hello, Dima! Congratulations! Will you tell us how you won the PokerGrant race?

– Hi and thank you! I came across some information on the promotion around the end of March. The conditions were really attractive, so I decided to change my plans for April and take part in the race. I started in the first week slowly getting used to the interface, learning how to use built-in stats and evaluating the potential rivals. I can say I was relaxed. Starting from the second week I didn’t miss any important tournaments. I evaluated the potential points and disposition at the beginning of each day with the help of the table. I can’t deny, the situation was good for me all the way. On Sunday night, having seen the lobby tournaments and having made sure that all the opponents were left behind, I went to bed thinking about my future Cyprus trip.

– Cool! How did you like playing with the built-in statistics?

– I liked it. It will be great if these functions continue to be developed.

– Be sure of it! Let’s now talk about your travel. What do you think of Cyprus?

– It’s a great place for a series. The hotel was wonderful, it had a comfortable gym, nice beach and great food variety at any time of the day. But I spent most of the time at the poker table in the company of other players and pretty dealers.

– Did you like the series?

– Of course. The organization was really good: I didn’t notice a single conflict situation or something like that throughout the event. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. I had a lot to do besides poker too: I’ll always remember the night game «Mafia», basketball match and get-together around a hookah.

– How did the main tournament go, the one you won the backing contract for?

– It was very intense. The tension was palpable during the three hour bubble and then 8-max at the final table when no one busted for far too long.

– I am sure happy with my debut, $22k is a good money. I want to thank PokerGrant for arranging its promotion in such an interesting way. I would also like to thank the organizers of the series and specifically Mikhail Moon for helping to arrange my trip.

Igor «Traxa», winner of Warm-Up and 6-max DeepStack

– Hello, Igor! Congratulations on the double! You set off for the main event, but instead you beat everybody at the side events?

– Hello, thank you. Well, it looks like that. When I won the package I decided that three days would not be enough and upgraded it to platinum, it’s great that GipsyTeam had such a fantastic offer. So I went to the whole series, and it turned out not for nothing.

– To put it mildly. Will you tell us first about the race?

– When the package race started I played one tournament in a very relaxed way and took the second prize. Then I looked at the special offer more attentively and realized there weren’t so many people there that meant I had good chances. So I decided to fight: the first week went really well, but at the end I got left behind. I couldn’t put up with it, so I played for 4 more weeks, and I got to win in the last week.

– What are your impressions about Cyprus?

– I liked it a lot. It wasn’t my first staying at this hotel and I agree with the choice. The sea is great, the folks at the series are awesome. I think the organizers did a great job.

– Now it’s time to tell us the secret of your success.

– I only had one chance for each tournament because I had no money for any re-entries. So I had to do my best. Didn’t have any luck at the first day of Warm-Up, and the table was pretty tough. Day 2 was the opposite – I did great and my opponents didn’t. Day 3 I made it to Heads-Up and agreed to a deal. In the Deepstack I got pretty unlucky at first when I was playing at a full-reg table and the table nearby had all the recreational players. So I had to be patient and wait for my chances. It all got better later – weaker players came eventually and gave me their stacks almost without a fight. Final table was easy too: I had 30% of all the chips and the only solid player at the table was shortstacked Dima Vitkind. I agreed to a deal in 3-max because I was really tired and wanted to make it to the farewell party. I got the trophy though.

– I see, you are really satisfied! What are your plans for now?

– Of course, I’m satisfied. I bought-in for $8k and got about $20k in prizes – what else can I ask for. My wife is pushing me to go to Vegas and get those bracelets but I am refusing. In August, though, I will be willing to go to GipsyTeam Live again. I hope there will be another race, I will for sure participate in it.

– Regarding the race, we will keep you in the loop. A wife pushing to play, how’s that possible?

– Well it is possible if she sees u win tournaments!

The next phase of GipsyTeam Live has not been announced yet. But PokerGrant and GipsyTeam are satisfied with their collaboration and plan to continue working together. More details are coming soon. Stay with us!
